Jack Thompson's Running Mate

Dr. Phil,

I am writing to you today in regards to the comment that you recently made linking violent video games to the Virginia Tech tragedy. I realize that every man is entitled to his own opinion, thus I am about to give you mine. I am twenty-two years old and I play many video games, some of them violent, and have for many years. I have played Counter-Strike, Doom 3, Quake 4, Soldier of Fortune, F.E.A.R., Battlefield 2, and a few others that I cannot recall at the moment. In all my years of playing I have never once entertained the idea of taking acts in these games and bringing them to the real world. I have not once viewed these games as a “killing simulator” or training program to end someone's life. The reason for that is simple. My parents taught me the difference between right and wrong. They took time out of their day to teach me the difference between reality and fantasy. I cannot understand why anyone of sound mind would be quick to blame a piece of software before blaming their home life, upbringing or possible psychological issues for an outrageous and terrible act that has been committed. Take the psychological profiling that is carried out before someone is allowed to purchase a firearm in Texas. We don't sell firearms to those diagnosed with mental illnesses. Why? Because there is something in the person that might causes them to snap. It's not the firearm, or this case the video game, it is the person that brings the motive. Don't place the blame on the wrong source. If you really want to help in this situation you need to focus on the families that these people come from. Parents need to play a larger role in their children's lives. Microsoft, ID Software and EA Games, just to name a few, are not the ones responsible. It is time we start holding the people that commit these acts accountable for what they do. I ask you to recant your statement concerning the link of violent video games to the Virginia Tech tragedy. If you don't like violent video games then fine. Don't let your children or your friends play them. Stop cramming all of this nonsense down our throats and getting the media all worked up. Lastly, I urge you to pass these words along to Jack Thompson, as it is hard for me to believe that you two are not joining forces in this matter.

Thank You

....oh yeah, I sent it in. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go play a violent video game and yet keep my feet firmly planted to the ground.

Say What?

Correction - we have moved.

So my Dad took a job up here and we all packed up and moved this past Monday. I will finish out school here and then see where life takes me after that is over. Now we get to look for a house and settle in.

Yay.

The March '07 Update

I don't even know if anyone checks this anymore. I don't.

On that note, I am using my last bit of time on the internet before it gets cut off. Why is it getting cut off? Well, because we are moving of course. That's right...moving. I'm going back to my birthplace everyone. Midland, TX here we come.

Good bye Houston. Enjoy the refugees.

The '07 Update

Hello everyone. I have returned from my Eurasian tour. Word of advice...don't drink the water.

Here are the most recent highlights:
  • I quit my job at Amstar. Things were getting terrible and I had enough and bolted. It will be an epic story to tell the kids one day.
  • The NDA for The Lord of The Rings Online was lifted so I can now openly talk to the public about the game I have been beta testing. You may submit your questions about the Shire and Bree-land now.
  • Apparently back here in the states a lone farmer has decided to enter the outer space on his own accord. Why he is building a Saturn V type vehicle in this day and age is beyond me.
  • Bypassing the whole anti-Christ thing, the devil somehow found a way to take human form run for the US presidency.
  • The word on the street is that more troops are being sent to North Korea Iran Iraq. Hmm...
    God help us...seriously.
  • The Amstar stock price is now lower than the price of an overage minute from Cingular AT&T. ZOMG TEH HAXORS PWN DIVIDENDS!
  • I am the father of Anna Nicole's baby.
The next post will be done in true Facebook style. That is all for now. Enjoy.
